Michael Surface, AICP 

City of Gillette
 
Michael’s nomination was submitted by the Gillette Planning Commission. To summerize the nomination they stated that Michael is committed to community involvement, education and to creating a more positive planning environment in the region. His dedication shows in the amount of work he produces, the service he provides and the long work weeks that he puts in. In addition to his work, Michael is always available to assist co-workers, the planning commission members, developers, homeowners, and more. Congratulations Michael!

Megan Lehman 

Campbell County
 
Megan’s nomination was submitted by her office staff. To summerize the nomination, Megan has taken the lead in subdivision and zoning code re-writes, wind regulations, and unique special use permits. Megan works very well with other County organizations. All this while finishing her Masters Degree from South Dakota State University. Congratulations Megan!
Planning Commissioner of the Year
 
Dave Paulekas

City of Laramie
 
Mr Paulekas’s nomination was submitted by Charles Bloom, Associate Planner for Laramie. Mr Paulekas was recognized for serving on the Commission for 12 years, currently, as Chairman. The nomination stated that Mr. Paulekas has provided a consistent foundation for staff and has also proven to be invaluable as new members join the commission. He also volunteers for several other Laramie Boards and committees. Congratulations Mr. Paulekas!
Rural Planning Project of the Year
 
Lincoln County 

Agricultural/Grazing Land Protection
 

This nomination was submitted by the Lincoln County Commissioners, recognizing the work done by the Office of Planning and Development on behalf of the grazing permittees to preserve working ranches and open space.   

Urban Planning Project of the Year 

City of Laramie 

Unified Development Code
 

This nomination was submitted by Charles Bloom, Associate Planner for the City of Laramie. The plan recognizes the innovative process of implementing a new code from the 2007 Comprehensive Plan developed by Clarion and Associates. The new code replaces antiquated codes that have been in effect since 1964. The code can be viewed at, http://cityoflaramie.org/cityservices/communitydevelopment/developmentcode.htm.
