Planning & Zoning Administrator -- Town of Pinedale, WY

Job Description: The Town of Pinedale is seeking a highly motivated and energetic person to run our Planning and Zoning Department. The PLANNER is charged with assisting town staff and officials in managing the rapid growth of our dynamic and rural community.

Essential Duties: Assist and review building and zoning applications in a manner that facilitates the development process. Prepare staff reports with recommendations for presentation to P & Z Commission/ Town Council. Organize and maintain data records, researching various records and resources as needed. Interpret and apply town policies and procedures to development processes. Conduct field visits for site approval as appropriate. Work with Town officials and staff to identify and implement planning needs. Examples may include EIS reviews; adjustments to comprehensive plans and zoning laws; specially designed regulations, impact fee analysis, PUD's, wetland protection laws, and etc. Maintain a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations. Prepare sophisticated residential bulk regulations; introducing form-based zoning regulations, GIS projects, etc.

Qualifications: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Familiarity with development processes, subdivision regulations, and zoning ordinances.  Ability to remain organized and work effectively without direct supervision.  Familiarity with GIS, mapping, drafting, and other computer programs.  Proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.  A Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field, 2-3 years experience, and a valid driver's license are required. (Master's degree and AICP are preferred.)

Summary: As responsible for expanding a new building department, the duties of this position will focus specifically on development reviews and revamping the subdivision and zoning ordinance titles to address modern-day growing pains.

Salary Range - $65,000 to $80,000 DOE Natrona County, Wyoming, with a total population of 70,000 and a population of 14,000 in the unincorporated areas, is seeking a qualified candidate to perform the duties of Planning and Development Director.

The Director's Duties Include: Supervision of staff; development and administration of annual budget; research; preparation of reports and surveys; administration of the County Development Plan, review of site plans, the administration of land use and zoning programs and other duties as assigned. The Director works under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners and serves as staff to the Board, as well as the Planning Commission, on all matters pertaining to current and long-range planning matters.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field, with five years of experience in planning, subdivisions, zoning, land use, community development programs and funding, grants and land development. AICP and two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Experience with GIS is a plus.

Community Development Director -- City of Gillette, WY

The City of Gillette, population approximately 28,000, is located in northern Campbell County, in the northeast corner of Wyoming. Gillette is a rapidly growing, progressive community with a booming economy. Rich in natural resources, Gillette is known as the "Energy Capital of the Nation" and its energy economy provides an excellent quality of life for its citizens. The City is a stable organization with a number of long term, dedicated employees and is in excellent financial health. The Community Development Department oversees planning, zoning, building and code compliance issues. Comprised of the Planning Division and the Building Inspection Division, the Department has a staff of 14 fulltime personnel plus an intern. The 2007-08 budget for the Department is $1,612,867 ($767,306 for Planning and $845,561 for Building Inspection). Serving as a member of the City's leadership team and reporting to the City Administrator, the Community Development Director plans, directs, manages and oversees all activities and operations of the Community Development Department, including long-range and current planning, permitting, building inspection, and coordinates the plan review for building and planning projects. The Director oversees the City's Comprehensive Plan, including review of updates and amendments; works closely with the Engineering Division for subdivision developments and coordinates with Engineering for plan review; directs the development and administration of the department budget; and oversees and participates in negotiation and administration of contracts with outside agencies and vendors. A bachelor's degree in city/urban planning, geography, public administration, business administration, management or closely related field is required and five years of relevant planning, community development, construction, or zoning or related experience that includes two years of management and/or supervision.
